The Artist.
I was born in South Korea and grew up in a suburb of St. Paul, MN. I'm a graduate of the University of Minnesota, with a BA in Psychology. I currently live in St. Paul, MN, spending my free time riding my horse or creating keepsake portraits in my studio.
Some facts about me:
-I have been riding horses since I was five years old. I bought my first horse, Gringo, when I was 12. I am now the proud owner and companion of a wonderful Morgan gelding, Onyx.
-I'm also available for hire as a professional horse trainer. I specialize in humane horse-starting, desensitizing, trails, hunter-jumper, gaited, and all-around horses. I also offer informal instruction and guidance to riders wanting to build confidence or improve communication with their horses. Feel free to email me for rates and more info!
-I love apple juice.
-My favorite color is red.
-I love music, and am one of those people you always see singing in her car.
-I love the contrast between soft shading and bold outlines, and try to portray fluid motion in my art.
-My Facebook status updates often detail the adventures of living with Mogwai, my cuddly, adorable, uninhibited little monster - I mean, cat - and Fritz, an extremely awkward and ridiculous but lovable tiny doglike creature.
-I love to read. Neil Gaiman, Chuck Palahniuk, Rachel Cohn, R.A. Salvatore, Matthew Woodring Stover, and Kurt Vonnegut are some of my favorite writers.
-My artistic influences include Salvador Dali, m.c. escher, Bev Doolittle, Robert Vavra, Todd Lockwood, Ursula Vernon, Yuu Watase, and Lesley Harrison.
My art has been featured in publications, including:
-Youthful Visions
-Animerica magazine
-Mythos RPG manual
-Pentacle magazine
-The White Bear Press
-Insightful Parenting: Making Moments Count by Dr. Steve Kahn (Family Therapy Press)
"Self Portrait," 2007 Mixed media- Kahn family
